Bowling!

Four families turned out for bowling at Big Rock Casino last Saturday. We had a great time! I (Katie) was a little worried about how my two-and-a-half year old would handle all the stimulation, but he did surprisingly well (up until the very end after finding an arcade game, something he's never seen before). Ben also had a lot of fun riding on my back and helping me bowl. :)

Some lessons learned: we need to try to get the word out about our events and have some kind of system letting us know who is/isn't coming. I've already started to compile some email addresses, and I know that Cheryl has been putting announcements in the bulletin. Ideas are welcome, so please feel free to contact Joanna or myself, or leave a comment here on the blog. We would love to hear from you!

Tonight was the "Girls' Night Out" event for March. Unfortunately, due to elaborate bedtime routines and daylight savings time, I was unable to attend. Joanna and I are planning to have a Girls' Night Out evening every-other month, and a day-time/weekend event the other months. Please let us know what your thoughts and ideas are about this!

Blessings,
Katie

Introductions

Welcome to the blog of Trinity on the Hill's Young Family Ministry! We are the new co-chairs of the Young Family Ministry and would like to tell you a little about ourselves:

Joanna: Hi I'm Joanna Talley and I'm now Co-chairing young family ministry. Some of you probably already know me but for those of you who do not here's a little about me. I'm blessed to be married to my husband Kevin. We have two wonderful boys Sawyer and Carter. I really like organizing events and getting folks together so I"m so excited to be doing this for the church. It is such an honor to be asked. Thank you! If you have any questions or suggestions we would love to hear from you.

Katie: I am blessed to be a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, teacher, artist, and above all, child of God. I am currently a stay-at-home-mom with my two sons, Matthew (two-and-a half) and Benjamin (nine months), both of which bring me many joys and challenges each day.

Before I had Matthew I taught for three years in a local elementary school. I have always enjoyed the hands-on aspects of teaching, and my favorite subjects to teach were science and math (both with plenty of manipulatives!). My hobbies are handwork (knitting, crochet, sewing, embroidery), reading, going on walks, and spending time with my family and friends. I am truly a homebody at heart, but I believe it is very important, especially as a stay-at-home-mom, to make connections and have a community to belong to.

I started attending Trinity on the Hill when I was sixteen, and I was confirmed in the church about three years ago when I was pregnant with Matthew. I am thankful for the love and support I have received over the years from the church community. I hope that I am able to give back to the church community, reach out to the greater Los Alamos community, and be a vehicle of God's love through this ministry.

Please let us know how the Young Family Ministry can reach YOU, whether it's through planned family activities or just being a friend to laugh with or shoulder to cry on. We are open to suggestions and would love to hear from you. You may leave comments here on the blog, email us, or contact us through the church's office.

Blessings,
Joanna and Katie
